DHHS Offering Free Continuing Nursing Education Course

Lincoln, Neb. – Recently, the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) began offering a free online course that gives Continuing Nursing Education (CNE) credits to nurses upon completion. The course covers important tobacco cessation topics such as Myths About Quitting, Vaping and E-Cigarette Devices and Tobacco Use Disparities.

Meet and Greet held to discuss upcoming summer season and possible challenges

Emergency Manager Matt Sandoz hosted a Meet and Greet for emergency responders, Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at the Valentine Fire Hall. The meeting was held to identify all available resources to meet the challenges that this summer can bring. There was discussion on radio communications, towers available and frequencies used.

More rainfall - thank you!

The rain fell so hard, it was difficult to see for a while - even while wipers were going full blast. The rain fell so hard the drops are pounding into the puddles at the side of the road, Saturday, May 7, 2022. There were a few hail stones that fell as well. A total of .63 inches of rain fell according to NOAA Weather. Winds gusted as high as 56 mph with a high temperature of 88 degrees.

Drive thru Mobile Food Pantry coming to Valentine May 24th, 2022

The Community Services Program at Northwest Community Action Partnership (NCAP) will sponsor a Drive Thru Mobile Food Pantry with the Food Bank of the Heartland on May 24, 2022 at the Cherry County Fairgrounds located at 120 S. Green Street in Valentine from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.

Summer lunches for youth to be provided by Valentine Community Schools

As part of its efforts to ensure kids have access to healthy meals during the summer months, Valentine Community Schools is pleased to announce its summer meals site will be serving kids and teens. Starting on May 23, all kids and teens 18 and under can receive lunches free of charge.
