The Valentine City Council met for their regular meeting, Thursday, February 11, 2022 at the City Library Meeting Room. The meeting was called to order at 6:00 p.m. with the following in attendance: City Clerk Deanna Schmit, City Manager Shane Siewert, Councilmembers Kyle Arganbright, Kalli Kieborz, Neil Wescott, Dave Dent, and Ross Brockly.

It’s no laughing matter that Valentine’s Main Event was a smashing success! The weather was cooperative and in the mid 30s. The pens were full, families out walking together, and kids letting off some steam as they ran from exhibit to exhibit.

Our attendance has been a bit challenged since COVID hit our nation. The consensus for this drop in attendance is due to the available government aid that is readily accessible to those in need.

Grace Kelber, Senior I would like to nominate Grace Kelber as Scholar of the Week. Grace is such a pleasure to have in my Home Economics class.

Fayth From, Senior, Girls Basketball Fayth From led our team in scoring last Thursday night in a win against Cozad. Fayth had 19 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals and 5 deflections.

Valentine’s 78th annual Coronation is set for Sunday, February 13, 2022, at 5:00 p.m. Royalty will be crowned on the beach of Love Island! Join Gilligan (Sean Springer) and Mary Ann (Lindsey Boes) as they escape to Love Island.
