South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem signs transgender athlete ban

PIERRE, SD (AP)-South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem on Thursday signed a bill that will ban transgender girls and college-age women from playing in school sports leagues that match their gender identity, making South Dakota the 10th state to enact such a law.

Hastings man’s electrical accident leads to new purpose

HASTINGS, (AP)-From the depths of despair, the hand of fate has dealt Hastings resident Austin Buresh a winning hand. After knocking on death’s door from an electrical accident and fall that left him broken and bruised both physically and mentally on July 20, 2006, the 37-year-old former farmhand has found healing and a new sense of purpose through his trying encounter.

The fourth week of the Vets Club Soup Contest was held Friday, February 4. First place was Sherry Slagowski with Cheesy Cowboy Soup, second place was Kathryn Renning with Oriental Chicken, third place was Tyrel Yeager with Smoked Beef and Noodle and fourth place was Bobbie Johnson with Chicken Pot Pie Soup..
