When the weather dips below freezing in Valentine, most of the city’s residents do their best to stay indoors as much as possible. But in 2022, roughly 100 community members volunteered to stand outside, braving biting winds,and bonechilling temperatures, at times, to ring bells for needed donations. Since the Salvation Army first began collecting donations in kettles in the late 1800s, the organization has relied on volunteers to do the bulk of its bell ringing.

Stephenson named as the Director for the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center

Lincoln-Bryan Tuma, executive director for the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement and Criminal Justice appointed Mark Stephenson as Director of the Nebraska Law Enforcement Training Center (NLETC) in Grand Island, effective October 30, 2023. Stephenson was recommended for his appointment to this position by the Police Standards Advisory Council.

Calves are carefully evaluated against a list of criteria, selected, and brought home. Now what?

Extension ag estate, transition planning workshop in Harrison

Lincoln - The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Center for Agricultural Profitability and Nebraska Extension in Sioux County will host a transition and estate planning workshop for farmers and ranchers in Harrison from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m., November 21, at the Harrison Fire Hall, 382 Grace St., in Harrison.
