The fourth week of the Vets Club Soup Contest was held Friday, February 4. First place was Sherry Slagowski with Cheesy Cowboy Soup, second place was Kathryn Renning with Oriental Chicken, third place was Tyrel Yeager with Smoked Beef and Noodle and fourth place was Bobbie Johnson with Chicken Pot Pie Soup..

Attracting and feeding outdoor birds is a favorite winter pastime for many. Watching the different species from a home or office window can bring cheer on cold and dreary days. By providing feed and water during the winter, birds know where a reliable food source is available, especially when food options become more limited in cold and harsh weather.

Patty, Marshal, Raken and Takorah Tinant were in Eagle, NE over the weekend visiting Lucas and Becky Tinant and family. They watched Victor play indoor soccer in Lincoln, and were joined Saturday afternoon by Liz Tinant.

Valentine’s Main Event, Heart City Bull Bash will be held February 12, 2022. Billed as the Heart City’s “Main Event,” the Bull Bash pays tribute to agriculture and is a winter festival that gives cattlemen the opportunity to look at livestock and bale feeders while the rest of the family takes other events and a tasty lunch.

Most people know about the work the Valentine Lions Club does to support residents and events within our communities. This past year, we have had to postpone some of our traditional events because we do not have enough volunteers to make things like benefit dinners and other fund raisers occur.
