NOAA Weather Service has their 2021 year in review for Valentine’s weather. The average temperature was 51.9 degrees which is 4.5 degrees above normal and the second warmest. The warmest high was 108 on June 23; and the coldest low was -33 degrees February 15. The average low is 38 degrees up 4.6 degrees. The average high was 65.9 up 5.5 degrees.

On 1/03/2022 at 1:29 a.m., a Mission woman was stopped for a traffic violation. After the officer spoke with the woman, she was issued a citation for no operator’s license and no child restraint. This information was sent to the County Attorney’s Office for review.

Lincoln, Neb. Jan. 6, 2022 — Fellowship applications for Nebraska LEAD (Leadership Education/ Action Development) Group 41 are now available for men and women involved in production agriculture or agribusiness.

The Badger Effort Award is based on the school's character education. Students who demonstrate Character In Action (CIA), responsibility, accountability, honesty, empathy, and respect were nominated by their classroom teachers and staff. Madelyn Grace Pilakowski, Senior Madelyn is an excellent student who has a really challenging schedule. Of the seven classes she’s enrolled in six of those are for dual credit.

The VCS Board of Education recognized VHS One Act Play team for their outstanding season including a District Championship and competition at the State Championships. One Act Play competed in the State Championship Competition, Friday, December 10 at the Johnny Carson Theater in Norfolk, receiving a fifth place win.

MULLEN, (Jan 7, 2022) - The Sandhills Journey National Scenic Byway is excited to announce the upcoming 14th annual Polar Bear Tank Race. After being canceled last year, this unique fun-filled event will be held March 4-5, 2022, on the Middle Loup River north of Mullen.
