South Dakota lawmakers to press for Noem daughter’s records

SIOUX FALLS, SD (AP)-South Dakota lawmakers are pressing Gov. Kristi Noem’s administration to hand over a document that could prove whether a plan was in place to give her daughter another chance to win a real estate appraiser license prior to a meeting last year that has spurred conflict-of-interest questions.

Oh, Canada!

In 1981 we moved to Canada— from Florida. Yes, folks said we were crazy. They asked what we were thinking. But we were sure. My husband had been asked to take a job in Ottawa, Canada as Worship pastor. We said “Yes!” Nine years of our lives there were some of the best, most love filled. We found Canadians to be kind and embracing of us and of our Canadian/U.S. children who were born there.

Nebraska Department of Justice files third suit on federally mandated COVID-19 vaccinations

November 10, 2021, the Nebraska Department of Justice filed its third lawsuit challenging the federal government’s recent attempts to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations. Today’s filing seeks to stop the mandate that the Biden Administration’s Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) seeks to impose on healthcare workers throughout Nebraska—and the rest of the nation. As with the other two challenges, we argue that this healthcare worker mandate ex ceeds the Biden Administration’s powers and violates both the U.S. Constitution and other federal laws. In preparing this lawsuit, we have talked to many healthcare facilities throughout Nebraska, especially in rural communities, and we have heard the same message over and over again: this mandate will force healthcare providers to fire critical employees, including operations personnel who don’t provide patient care, and that will have a devastating impact on many healthcare facilities in greater Nebraska. That, in turn, jeopardizes the ability of Nebraska residents to access necessary healthcare services throughout the state. The lawsuit asserts that state health officials and local hospital administrators are in the best position to address appropriate COVID-19 issues in Nebraska health care facilities. We hope to avoid the detrimental impact that the mandate threatens to healthcare services in Nebraska.

Teaching Gratitude

As we come upon the season of Thanksgiving, now is a great time to teach children gratitude. It can be as simple as teaching children at a very young age to say “Thank you” or being more intentional by expressing their feelings in a written note.
