On Wednesday, the Lakeview School students, teachers and parents had fun with a school visit, a meal, and painting the playground equipment. The playground looks great thanks to their hard work! Dean and Sheryl Noteboom attended the Homecoming parade in Platte last week, in which their three grandchildren were all on floats.

Rounded up! South Dakota cowboys and cowgirls rustle up hundreds of bison in nation’s only roundup

South Dakota cowboys and cowgirls rounded up a herd of more than 1,500 bison Friday as part of an annual effort to maintain the health of the species, which has rebounded from near-extinction. Visitors from across the world cheered from behind wire fencing as whooping horseback riders chased the thundering, wooly giants across hills and grasslands in Custer State Park.

Mountain lion no longer a threat to locals

The Valentine Police Department had been monitoring the whereabouts of a mountain lion for the past couple weeks, and confirmed a second sighting within the Valentine city limits via video evidence early last week.
