Put kitchen scraps and landscape trimmings to work in the garden

Convert landscape and garden trimmings into valuable compost. Incorporate this soil amendment into garden soil to improve drainage in clay soil and increase waterholding ability in fast draining sandy soils. It also promotes healthy plant growth more resistant to insect and disease problems and keeps plant-based kitchen scraps and garden waste out of landfills.

Sean...part 1

I sometimes call Dana a “concierge pastor.” He’s willingly on call as a caretaker of souls. One Saturday in June 2016, we got a call from someone saying that her friend’s fiancé was in a “touch and go” situation in ICU at our local hospital. She couldn’t locate the one rector that may have known them. Did we know someone who could come? Of course Dana immediately said, “I’ll come!” He put away the lawn mower, cleaned up and drove to the hospital.

Moose Head memory of the hayride holdup

In the summer of 1970, I had an enjoyable job as a wrangler on the Moose Head Ranch in the heart of Jackson Hole, WY. This lovely guest ranch was 120-acres of deeded land, with the distinction of being the only privately owned land within the confines of Grand Teton National Park. It also had access to many miles of riding trails in the Park and on the adjoining Bridger-Teton National Forest. Earlier that spring I had graduated from Gordon High School. Compared to growing up on a Nebraska Sandhills working ranch that ran Hereford cattle, this new dude-wrangler occupation in the mountains seemed like a paid vacation.
