Four million in scholarships are available for nurses training

LINCOLN — The State of Nebraska has $4 million remaining in a $5 million program to provide scholarships for nurses and is seeking more applicants. The scholarships, up to $2,500 per student for the fall semester, are available for any Nebraska resident enrolled in a licensed practical nurse program, associate degree of nursing program or accelerated bachelor of science in nursing program.

NDOT hay permit applications accepted online beginning July 30

Lincoln-The Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) has announced that hay harvesting permit applications for the public will be accepted through an online application portal beginning July 30 at 12:01 a.m. CDT. Applications will be processed in the order they are received during normal business hours beginning Monday, July 31, 2023. Individuals must have a permit to harvest hay on State Right of Way.

Emerald ash borer confirmed in Lincoln and Nemaha counties

LINCOLN—The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA), in partnership with the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), recently confirmed the presence of emerald ash borer (EAB) in Lincoln (North Platte) and Nemaha (Shubert area) counties. This is the first confirmation of EAB in both counties.

4-H Special Foods Day results

The annual 4-H Special Food competition was held July 20, 2023. This learning experience incorporates a variety of life skills including design, planning, time management, nutrition, public speaking, etiquette and more. The Cupcake War class is based on the popular TV show and requires youth to bake and decorate cupcakes and put their party-planning skills to the test with unique and creative displays.
