VPD reported offenses, citations, and arrests, April 23-29

Incidents/Arrests On 04/23/2023 at 4:37 p.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop in the 1000 block of North Green Street. An 18 year old Valentine man was arrested on suspicion of operating his vehicle while under the influence of drugs.

Celebration of Life

A celebration of life for Merle Weihe of Gordon will be held May 25, 2023 11:00 a.m. MT at the American Legion in Gordon.

Methodist Church to host Mother-Daughter Banquet

The annual Mother-Daughter Banquet will be held at the Valentine Methodist Church, 804 East 5th Street, Wednesday, May 17 at 6:30 p.m. This year's theme is 'Bloom Where You're Planted'. Tickets are available at Broken Spoke Boutique and are $12.00 for adults and $5.00 for children 10 and under. The program entails singing, dancing, a skit, and concludes with drawings for prizes to make a fun evening for everyone.

KVSH holds Ribbon Cutting

Mike and Kim Burge are the new owners and managers of KVSH Radio, 940 on your AM dial.

Mike was born and raised in Valentine and graduated from Valentine High School. Kim was raised on a cattle ranch northeast of Onida, in central South Dakota, and graduated from Sully Buttes High School. Oddly enough Mike was the only person at KVSH that manager at the time, Larry Russell, did not introduce Kim to during her initial interview.

Troopers arrest 13 impaired drivers during weekend campaign

APRIL 25, 2023, LINCOLN — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed from the road 13 impaired drivers, including two drug-impaired drivers, during a special enforcement operation. The effort, which ran from April 19 - 23, included high-visibility patrols throughout the state.

Incidents/Arrests On 04/17/2023 the Cherry County Attorney and Valentine Community Schools requested an investigation be completed regarding excessive truancy. On 04/21/2022 at 5:44 a.m., an officer responded to 3rd and Cherry Streets for a non-injury accident.

These clinics are for farmers and ranchers and their families. They are confidential, one-on-one sessions with an experienced ag law attorney and ag finance counselor. These clinics have been offered in Nebraska since 1989.
