Sherry L. Murphy, 82, of Lincoln, passed away peacefully at home June 24, 2025. Sherry was born in 1943 in Valentine, NE to Arlo and Zina (Osburn) Turner. She spent her early years on a farm in the Sparks area, east of Valentine, and attended school there until 1957, when her family moved into town so she could attend high school where she was a graduate of the class of 1961. It was there that she met Jim Murphy. High school sweethearts, they married in 1962.

Nelia Gallardo Adanza, born October 23, 1950, as a citizen of the Philippines. She became a naturalized citizen of the United States.

Dr. William “Bill” D. Murphy, a beloved educator, scholar, athlete, and devoted community servant, passed away at the age of 89 on June 13, 2025, in Lincoln, NE. Born 1935, in Valentine, NE, to William “Pat” and Teresa (Mahoney) Murphy. Bill lived a life of passion, dedication, and achievement.

Scott Carl Grooms, age 55, of Valentine, NE, passed away peacefully on Father’s Day, June 15, 2025, surrounded by his children and loved ones. Scott was born in Valentine to Edgar and Mary Lee Grooms.

Continued from page 2 Dorine Nohrenberg, 84, of Jamestown ND, passed away peacefully in her sleep on June 12, 2025, at SMP Health - Ave Maria Jamestown. Dorine Marie (Ohlmann) Nohrenberg was born on December 29, 1940, in Valentine, NE to Helmuth D.

JanisJeanMarshallpassedaway June 11, 2025 at Sandhills Care Center. Janis was born July 21, 1937, in Mullen, NE to Jack and Nadyne Carlson. Janis married Don on February 14,1956. They moved from Mullen to the Metz Ranch in Cody in 1969. In 1994 they moved to town.

Richard Bachelor was born September 9, 1931, to Orin and Frances (Grow) Bachelor in Eli, NE. He first attended school in the Eli area. The family moved to Todd County, SD in 1939 to establish a ranch there. Richard attended the O’Brian school (now Littleburg) through the eighth grade and then attended Valentine High School where he graduated in 1949.

Chevron Rentfro Sherman was born on February 13, 1951 to Zelpha M. (Rentfro) Sherman and Richard B.

Richard “Dick” Wayne Tetherow, a true pioneer in agriculture and a devoted family man, passed away on June 5, 2025, in Lincoln, NE. Born December 28, 1939 to Edith and Howard Tetherow in Valentine, NE, Dick’s life was deeply rooted in the land he loved.

Larry James Jones was born March 11, 1944, in Valentine, NE, to Lawrence Edison “L.E.” and Florence Johanna (Knittel) Jones. He was baptized at Zion Lutheran Church in Mission, SD, on April 2, 1944. Larry was the youngest of their four children: Elizabeth “ Bet ty Ann” Kalblinger, Loretta Hopkins, and Martin.
