Tim Assman, 38, of Mission, SD, passed away on Friday, December 16, 2022. A funeral service will be held on Friday, December 30, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Valentine. A private family burial will occur at a later date. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2022, at the Valentine Methodist Church from 5:00-7:00 p.m., with a prayer service beginning at 5:30 p.m. Holmes Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Kathleen Lenore Miles of Thedford was born March 24, 1928 in Fairbury to Matt M. and Rose Dailey Shanley and died December 7, 2022 at the age of 94 at Callaway Good Life Center in Callaway.

Ronald E. Scranton, 88

Ronald Scranton passed away December 4, 2022 at Hospice House in Rapid City, SD. He was born in Antelope County, Nebraska on January 28, 1934 to Hattie and Ed Scranton. He graduated from Plainview High School in 1952 where he played football, basketball and was a member of National Honor Society. He went on to earn college credits from Hastings College, BHTC in Spearfish, SD and earned a degree in Business from the University of South Dakota School of Business in 1964.

He leaves behind his wife of 32 years, deAlva, honorary wives Wissal Byrnes, Julie Davy and Kyle Brooks along with furbabies Alley, Brownie, #3, Scout, Mickey, Sophie and numerous possums, raccoons, geese and the birds he fed daily. Anne Strozier (Momma) will miss her favorite (and only) son-in-law and their Rummikub games and weekly breakfast.
