On Nebraska agriculture

Nebraska’s Third District is the number one agriculture district in the nation. This past week, I hosted an agriculture summit where I was able to engage directly with Third District producers to hear how we can ensure our producers remain among the top producing in the country.

CRT and sex education are better taught at home

Parental responsibility. Anybody out there old enough to remember that? Perhaps you grew up with it or had the opportunity to exhibit it to your children.

Standing up for life

In the next year, the U.S. Supreme Court is expected to make its most important decision regarding abortion law and states rights in over a quarter-century. The Court’s ruling could overturn Roe v. Wade and give states more latitude in passing pro-life initiatives, including legislation limiting abortion in the early stages of pregnancy.

Democrats reckless spending plan

The U.S. Senate recently voted on a massive, $3.5 trillion spending measure that has a lot in common with the most extreme parts of today’s Democratic Party: It is radical, reckless, and has no plan to pay for what it proposes.

Peace is impossible without having a clear winner

The U.S. Afghanistan policy is collapsing with frightening speed. In recent days I have watched in stunned amazement as the Biden administration pleads with the Taliban to not attack our embassy in Afghanistan. I am reminded of my many friends I left in that tortured little country. The Tajik tribe in Afghanistan is of Panjishir Province. No invader has ever captured it in over a 1,000 years. The Tajiks are fierce warriors. There are countless unmarked graves in Panjishir containing a Russian or Taliban foolish enough to come there over the years. Of all the tribes of the Afghans they were our most loyal and strongest ally.

Stagflation 2.0

Since President Biden took office inflation has increased every single month. At a time when our nation is trying to rebuild and recover in response to COVID-19, the Biden Administration and Congressional Democrats don’t seem to mind that the price of everyday goods and services are on the rise while Nebraskan’s paychecks are worth less. These things do not just happen. Inflation reaching a 13 year high is a direct result of poor leadership by Democrats, and the ripple effect is only going to get worse.

Marxism reinvented

In 2021, communism seems like a distant threat to many. Generations of Americans have learned about the atrocities committed by Stalin and Lenin in Russia. Many are familiar with Mao’s Great Leap Forward, which led to the Great Chinese Famine and starvation and death for millions.

Taking care of our military

At the end of July, the Senate Armed Services Committee put party affiliations aside for the 61st year in a row to craft its version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), the annual bill that sets the policies and priorities for America’s military. The single most fundamental duty of Congress is to provide for the common defense, and the NDAA is one of the main ways we do that.

The challenges are real for law enforcement

We face several challenges in filling law enforcement vacancies in Nebraska. This problem is growing and is something that I believe will require new legislation next session.
