Fighting big government failures at the IRS

d.C . by U.S. Senator Pete Ricketts Tax Day is a time when many Americans feel frustration. The average Nebraskan paid $14,974 in federal taxes last year. They expect efficient services in return. Too often, families and seniors get caught in a web of confusing tax rules. Even worse, bureaucratic failures can cost taxpayers thousands of dollars. That is why I am fighting to fix it and give taxpayers some relief.

Sadly, these rates have trended in the wrong direction since Democrats poured $80 billion into the IRS to hire 87,000 new agents in 2022. In FY21 just 19 percent of taxpayers reported dissatisfaction with the IRS.

A celebration of Nebraska beef

Nebraska is the Beef State. Agriculture is the heart and soul of what we do. One in four jobs in Nebraska is related to agriculture. Beef is essential to our state’s economy. Recently, we celebrated a major win for our state and our beef industry. I joined over 1,000 people in North Platte for the ribbon- cutting of the new Sustainable Beef processing plant. It will process about 1,500 head of cattle per day when fully operational. It will create 850 good-paying jobs. It will also add $1 billion to the local economy each year. This is the power of Nebraskans coming together to solve problems.
