What does right look like?

look like? Despite the outcome, I admire Governor Pillen’s persistence and determination to call a Special Session of the Legislature over Nebraska’s high property taxes. They are depopulating my part of the state.

Listen up and keep your hearing

Hearing loss affects millions of Americans. In fact, by age 75 over half of adults will have some form of hearing loss.

Getting serious about border security

Border security has long been a serious challenge facing our nation. Between the 1,933 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border and the 5,525 miles comprising our borders with Canada, there is no shortage of vulnerabilities which can be exploited by America’s enemies. Ignoring this fact creates a crisis of national security, humanitarian concern, economic strain, and public safety. Sadly, under the open border policies of the Biden-Harris administration, the crisis has gotten worse.

Celebrating Nebraska manufacturing

Manufacturing is critical for Nebraska’s economy. It contributes $21.6 billion to our annual gross domestic product. That’s a 57 percent increase from five years ago. Manufacturing is our secondlargest economic sector. It’s easy to see why. Whether it’s the food we eat, the machines we use, or the tools that help farmers and ranchers thrive, manufacturing touches every part of our daily lives. As we end Manufacturing Month, let’s celebrate the many successes of this growing industry.

Big lake dreams dashed by feasibility report

Like a comet that swings by the earth every few years, there’s been talk now and then about placing some huge development between Omaha and Lincoln along the Platte River. Between the state’s two largest cities would be an ideal location for a new football stadium for the Cornhuskers, the reasoning goes.

Politics keep costs high for families

Over the hundreds of visits I’ve had with Nebraskans these past few months, one issue keeps rising to the top: everything still costs too much.

Wind turbines and solar panels make terrible neighbors

I don’t want to see Nebraska covered in industrial wind turbines and solar panels. They tear apart rural communities. They kill endangered wildlife, and they make terrible neighbors. Worst of all, I think it is foolish to spend billions of borrowed federal tax revenue our children and grandchildren will have to pay back on electricity generators that cannot stand on their own without massive federal subsidies.

Thank a farmer today

W As Third District farmers round out the fall harvest season, it is an appropriate time to note how hard agriculture producers work to feed and fuel the world and how this drives our state’s economy. In recent years, farmers and ranchers have battled historically high inflation and input costs, wildfires, unpredictable weather, and disastrous storms.
