When the Nebraska Legislature adjourns we will have completed 14 legislative days of this special session. In my eight years in the legislature, I’ve listened to many thousands of hours of tax debates on the chamber floor. I’ve watched a lot of great bills over the years fall short by just a few votes. I really hope we can finally end this deadlock.

In June, the Wall Street Journal published a sobering review of social media outlets’ content protections for teens. Studies found that Instagram pushed adult content on teen accounts within minutes of their creation. After less than 20 minutes clicking on Instagram Reels with adult themes, account feeds were “dominated” by explicit content.

As we all know, state legislators have been called back to Lincoln for a special session this summer to tackle the state’s high property taxes. As has been written here before, good luck with that.
