The results of the Boys 2000 yard run for junior high are as follows: Second place, Isaac Cronin, 5:52.90; fourth place, Deklin Titus, 6;09.30; 15th place, Austin Harp, 7:02.10; 23rd place, Tanner Two Strike, 7:18.30; 38th place, Allen Ward, 8:15.30.

Three local Valentine athletes competed in the Hills 2 Forest kayak and canoe race west of Thedford, floating 33 miles on the Middle Loup River Saturday, September 11, 2021. Winning the race in the men’s kayak division and setting a new record was Mike Huggins with a time of 4 hours, 5 minutes and 41 seconds.

VALENTINE — A new breakwater planned at Merritt Reservoir State Recreation Area will protect a nearby boat launch and shoreline. The construction project is scheduled to begin this month as workers capitalize on the low water levels at the Sandhills irrigation reservoir.
