Dylan Naslund brings home medal from 2022 Class D NSAA State Track

Dylan Naslund was the only Cody-Kilgore athlete to qualify for the 2022 Class D NSAA State Track Meet. Naslund represented the Cowboys well, bringing home a sixth place medal in the Class D Boys Shot Put with a throw of 49’, which is his personal best.

Sandhills Select undefeated!

The Sandhills Select basketball team finished their season with a tournament win going undefeated in the MAYB Big Time Hoops Tournament in Omaha\Council Bluffs, IA, the weekend of April 30 through May 1, 2022.

Open Fields and Waters Program seeking new enrollments

The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is looking to provide additional hunting and fishing opportunities on private lands through its Open Fields and Waters Program. Landowners willing to allow public, walk-in access for hunting or fishing can receive annual, per-acre payments through the program.

VHS students Write the Niobrara River

On Friday, April 29, 2022, 17 Valentine High School students along with English teachers, Ronelle Kilmer and Melissa Pilakowski, joined Niobrara National Scenic River Rangers, employees, and Nebraska Writing Project teacher consultants for a day of exploring, learning, and writing about our area with the Write the River project. It was the result of a grant between the National Park Service and NeWP to educate students on local environments and national parks.

Badgers earn second place at Valentine Invite

Thursday, May 12, 2022, ten teams competed at the 2022 Valentine Invitational, where Valentine earned second place with 374. First place went to O’Neill with 362; in third place, West Holt with 380; fourth place, Ainsworth with 403; fifth place, Hyannis, 429; sixth place, North Central, 534; seventh place, Gordon Rushville; eighth place, Thedford; ninth place, West Holt JV; and in 10th place, Valentine JV.
