2022 NSWCA special award winners include Kelber

Nebraska Scholastic Wrestling Coaches Association congratulates the 2022 NSWCA Special Award Winners which include Assistant Boys Coach of the Year, Class C Jason Kelber, of Valentine. The award winners will receive their awards during the next high school wrestling season, at a time and place of their choice.

Students visit Cherry County Historical Society Museum

Cherry County Historical Society Museum is packed full of the history of Cherry County. The number of items is almost impossible to count. One item of interest is the old telephone service machine with the plug-ins which required operators to be present to complete a call which interested the students.

Results of the O’Neill Invite

Valentine Badgers traveled to O’Neill, April 14, 2022, for the O’Neill Invite. Individual boys results to the 20th place are as follows: 400 Meter Dash - seventh place, Dane Pilakowski, 54.68; 14th place, Anthony Gillette, 56.98.

The Valentine Badgers and Cody-Kilgore traveled to Rock County High School for the Sandhills Invite, Monday, April 4, 2022. Individual results are through 20th place.

Locals selected to Girls State

Grace Maunu and Taylor Battershaw have been selected to attend American Legion Auxiliary Cornhusker Girls State this June 5-11, 2022, on the campus of the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. They were selected based on their activities both in and out of high school.

Results from the Bill Pistulka Invite

The Valentine Badgers attended the Bill Pistulka Invite April 2, 2022. Individual Girls results are as follows: 100 Meter Sprint - seventh place, Malika Monroe, 14.4; ninth place, Talia Wenig, 14.7.

Wenig to perform during FFA Convention

Kaylee Wenig qualified for Nebraska FFA State Talent to play piano. She was one of three Nebraska FFA Members chosen to perform at Pinnacle Bank Arena during the State FFA Convention..

Third quarter Badger Effort Awards

The Badger Effort Award is based on the school’s character education. Students who demonstrate Character In Action (CIA), responsibility, accountability, honesty, empathy, and respect were nominated by their classroom teachers and staff. Council hears presentation on drug K9

The Valentine City Council met for their regular meeting, Wednesday, March 16, 2022, at 6:00 p.m. at the City Library meeting room. The following were in attendance: City Clerk Deanna Schmit, City Attorney Suzie Beel, City Manager Shane Siewert, Councilmembers Kyle Arganbright, Kalli Kieborz, Neil Wescott, Dave Dent, and Ross Brockley.
