Sally Jean VanWinkle was born December 30, 1935 in rural Todd County on the Lamoureaux Ranch to parents Calvin and Margaret (Meltendorf) Lamoureaux.
She graduated from Todd County High School on May 13, 1954.
Sally married William Sheets on St. Patrick’s Day 1956, to this union they were blessed with five wonderful children, Joyce, Lois, Richard, Randy and Matt.
She enjoyed barrel racing, going to rodeos, camping, and square dancing. Sally enjoyed her career of nursing for many years.
Sally married David VanWinkle on June 8, 2002. She moved to the country and enjoyed helping on the ranch. Here she got to do her favorite things in life, helping with the livestock and being out in the beautiful Sandhills of Nebraska.
Sally passed away on December 2, 2023, in Gordon. Graveside services were held at Mount Hope Cemetery on Sunday, March 17, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Scott Mc-Clellen officiated the services. Sandoz Chapel of the Pines in Valentine oversaw service arrangements.
