Badgers place eighth at O’Neill

The Badger golf team traveled to O’Neill for their Invite, Thursday, April 18, 2024. The team placed eighth out of 14 teams with 388.

Badgers place fourth at West Holt Invite

Thursday, April 18, 2024, the Badgers traveled to the West Holt Invite. The team competed against Ainsworth, Battle Creek, Elkhorn Valley, West Holt, Ord, Sandhills/ Thedford, and North Central.

VHS Choir to perform Spring Concert April 22

The VHS choir shared a quick song at Janine Emporium, Friday, April 12, 2024, at about 9:45 a.m. “ We have a song about coffee and are doing a one song pop up concert there,” said Mrs. Springer. Who also shared their upcoming Spring Concert which will be held April 22, at 7:00 p.m. - after their District Music event to be held April 19. Be sure to listen to the sounds of VHS CHOIR!

VHS Boys Golf earns first place

The VHS Boys Golf Team competed Thursday, April 4, at a rescheduled triangular meet held in Ainsworth, along with North Central. The VHS Boys placed first.

Local seniors receive honor cords from MPCC

A total of 397 area high school seniors will receive honor cords from Mid-Plains Community College to wear at their graduation ceremonies this spring. MPCC presents the cords to students who have taken the initiative to pursue college credit while still in high school.

Friday, April 19 at the Valentine Public Library!

School is almost out, and many families are wondering what is available for kids and families to do this summer. The Niobrara Council along with UNL Extension have partnered with the Valentine Public Library to host a Gear-Up For Summer Open House event; a one-stop shop where families can come learn about what camps, programs, and activities are happening in the Valentine area this summer. Other partners have been invited to participate, includ-ing, the Niobrara National Scenic River, Mid-Plains Community College, ESU 13, Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, Valentine Youth Activities, area churches, and more.

A day truly Out of this World as the temperatures rose to a record high of 91 degrees, Saturday, April 13, 2024. It broke the old record of 89 degrees set in 1908.

Cody-Kilgore traveled to North Central, Monday, April 8, 2024 and competed in the Sandhills Invite. Due to weather conditions, track has been called off several times - this is the first time the athletes were able to compete.

Local runners place in North Platte race

Two Valentine residents laced up their running shoes for the 9th annual Light Up the Night 5k. The charity event, benefiting the Make-A-Wish Foundation in North Platte, was hosted by kids from the North Platte Student Council and the Platte River Fitness community. The 3.1 mile race took place in Cody Park in the evening hours of Saturday, April 6. The course consisted of three laps around the park, which is home to a collection of animals.
