Saturday, October 15, 2022 was a home tournament for the Lady Badgers. Four teams competed, and here are their results.

The Class C-5 District Cross Country meet was held at Crandall Creek Country Club in Ogallala. The top 15 from each district qualify for the state meet which will be held Friday, October 21, 2022, at the Kearney Country Club in Kearney. Grant Springer qualified for state. As a junior, Grant was seventh at districts running his personal best time of 17:58.56. This is 12 seconds better than his previous personal best time which puts him seventh on the leaderboard.

Friday, October 14, 2022, the Badgers hosted Mitchell High School and lost in a close match, 20-21. Scoring by quarter: Valentine - 6, 0, 8, 0, 6 = 20 Mitchell - 7, 7, 0, 0, 7 = 21 Coach Ian Bish said, “Extremely proud of our guys and how they competed against a very tough team.

Wednesday,October12,2022was a beautiful, sunny day with a high of 58 degrees, and wind gusts that were a bit shy of that temperature at 52 mph. Things went smoothly as the bison were driven down the pathway into the corrals for the annual round-upatFortNiobraraNational Wildlife Refuge.

On October 1, 2022, three students from Valentine High School’s Badger Band traveled to Chadron to participate in Homecoming Band Day. Those attending were Saylor Biltoft, Grant Springer, and Marybelle Ward. Students played pep band with the Chadron State Eagle Band and several other high school bands to enhance the football game with their music. They enjoyed watching the game as they played!!

Friday, October 7, 2022, the Badgers hosted Hershey, and won with a score of 32-0. Coach Ian Bish said, “It was a great team with guys stepping up and filling in for guys that were out.
