The Cody-Kilgore Cowgirls are ready for the lights, the noise, and the energy of Homecoming. On Friday night, the volleyball squad will finally take its home floor in Cody, hosting the Oelrichs Tigers in what promises to be an electric atmosphere for the Cowgirls’ first home contest of the season.

Every September, the rodeo arena in North Platte transforms into more than just a competition ground—it becomes a place of joy, inclusion, and unforgettable memories. On September 10, 2025, the Wild West Arena hosted the 14th annual Partner Up Rodeo, an event where high school and junior high rodeo athletes, parents, volunteers, and community members join forces to give young people with disabilities the chance to experience the western way of life.

The Cody-Kilgore Cowboys continued their season opener with a road trip southwest to Oshkosh, NE, where they faced off against the Garden County Eagles on Thursday, September 4, 2025. The Cowboys faced a tall order looking to notch their first win of the season after losing a game to Stuart. However, things did not get any easier for the Cowboys, as the Garden County game marked the second Top-5 match up for Cody-Kilgore in two consecutive weeks. The #4 Eagles were coming off a decisive victory over the Crawford Rams 82-25 in week one.

Coach Alex Jensen said, “I am very impressed with our team so far this year! Nearly everyone got a season record in Broken Bow and competed well against others.” Placers for Broken Bow were 15th place, Kealy Titus, and 18th place, Taylie Fletcher in the high school girls 5k and in seventh place, was Reed Greenough in the junior high boys mile. “This is not an easy meet to place at as it is one of the larger meets we attend with 16 teams attending this year.

Chadron was good to the Lady Badger Golfers! They brought home first place with a team score of a 378 which is a personal best for these gals! Medalist included: third place, Tierney Miller with 91; fourth place, Joni Cox, with 91 PR; and fifth place, Sam Sprenger with 93 PR. Not far behind was Rylee Wackler with a 103.
