The Premier Livestock Exhibitor Award is designed to recognize and honor 4-H members that show a dedication to the agricultural industry. Winners of this award will have demonstrated their passion, hard work, and integrity through participation in events related to their livestock projects.

Valentine, NE (9/4/2025) — Many people want to give back to the community but may not have a lot of time to volunteer. In only about an hour, volunteer blood donors can help save lives and feel instant gratification.

The 2025 Cherry County Friends of 4-H were honored at the Fair. Friends of 4-H are nominated each year to recognize exemplary volunteer or business service to the Cherry County 4-H program. Jason McNare has coached shooting sports for several years and received the Individual award.

Join us in celebrating 30 years of the Cowboy Trail in Valentine, NE with a bike ride, dinner, and bridge social! Attend all three parts of the day, orpickandchoose what you’d like to participate in this Friday, September 5, 2025!
Valentine East project begins microsurfacing

Microsurfacing has started for the Valentine East project, Highway 12. A “scratch coat” has been placed on the roadway in Valentine.
Arendt runs 30 mile Lean Horse Ultra Marathon

The Lean Horse Ultra marathon was held in Custer, SD on August 16, 2025 on the George Mickelson Trail. Runners could choose the 20 mile, 30 mile, 50 mile or 100 mile. Alena Arendt, of Valentine, was one of 54 who signed up for the 30 mile. She ran it in 5 hours, 30 minutes and 26 seconds. She has been in a number of races, but this was her first ultra.
