Boost your fall garden harvest with some midsummer plantings. Fill vacant spaces left in the vegetable garden after harvesting lettuce, spinach, and other early maturing crops. Expand your edible plantings to other vacant spots in flowerbeds, mixed borders, and containers.

Jean Burge LaCosta, Lilli and Ivy Jackson and LaCosta's niece, Ava; Kara, James and Carson Walkling and Heidi and River Doyle joined Prairey and Norah Brennan and Kara's friend Liz and daughter Haley in Rapid City last weekend for Hills Alive. Lots of fabulous Christian performers and a great time had by all! Mark and Dawn Langenbach, Evan and Michaela and Michaela’s boyfriend, Andrew Wagenaar, all of Lowell, MI arrived Saturday at the Vern Walkling home to spend the week visiting friends in the area.

Emergency food and shelter funds available to region

NW. Nebraska — Northwest Nebraska Region Local Board #5656-00 expects to be awarded federal funds in the amount of $45,000.00 ARPAR phase and $23,500 Phase 40 under the Emergency Food and Shelter Program National Board to supplement emergency food and shelter programs in the counties of Box Butte, Cherry, Dawes, Sheridan and Sioux. The funding is provided by a national Board that is chaired by the US Department of Homeland Security’s Federal Emergency Management Agency and consist of representative from American Red Cross; Catholic Charities, USA; National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A.; The Jewish Federations of North America, The Salvation Army; and, United Way Worldwide. This local board will determine how the funds awarded will be distributed.

If the concern is acute or potentially a threat to your immediate health, you may be asked to wait for your results in the clinic. Normally, patients may leave and await their results from home. If the physician has requested a follow-up appointment, please schedule prior to your departure. We highly encourage this step as the schedules fill up very quickly.

New updated garden produce rules for the Scotts Bluff County Fair. Maturity - Produce should be in prime condition for eating at the time of judging. But, NEW in some instances, immature specimens can be included, especially in the case of late or early season fairs, green tomatoes, winter squash, carrots, green beans, melons, and of course, pumpkins. Exhibits should be uniform in size, shape, color, maturity, and type.
