Is anyone else tired of wind? Last week seemed relentless for wind – and I believe I saw a report of a top speed of 67 mph. On Saturday night several in the Lakeview area reported about .30 which was great, and will sure ease the worry or fires.

OMAHA, NE (April 5, 2022) -- April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month and AAA says Nebraskans can avoid being April Fools by minimizing all distractions when driving. According to AAA, driver distractions come in many forms, such as eating, drinking, personal grooming, using a smart phone, other passengers and many others.

Kansas City, MO – April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Region 7, consisting of Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, is working with respective law enforcement to ramp up enforcement of distracted-driving laws to raise awareness about the dangers of using your phone while driving. This annual campaign is part of NHTSA’s national U Drive. U Text. U Pay. high-visibility enforcement effort that runs from April 7 – 11, 2022.

With avian influenza in the news again, many people may be wondering if it is safe to consume eggs and poultry products. Currently, there is no public health or food safety concern for Michigan residents.

Social Work Month is a time to inform the public and stakeholders about the services social workers provide in an array of sectors including hospitals, mental health centers, schools, social service agencies, community centers, and other areas. Nebraskans become social workers because they have a strong desire to help others and make our State a better place to live for all.

Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is reporting higher levels of flu and flu-related cases in Nebraska. The State is experiencing increased positive cases, school absenteeism, hospital visits, and hospitalizations. A total of 13 Nebraskans have died from influenza-associated illness so far this season.
