Kansas City, MO – April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) Region 7, consisting of Arkansas, Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, and Nebraska, is working with respective law enforcement to ramp up enforcement of distracted-driving laws to raise awareness about the dangers of using your phone while driving. This annual campaign is part of NHTSA’s national U Drive. U Text. U Pay. high-visibility enforcement effort that runs from April 7 – 11, 2022.

Nebraska to recognize April as Child Abuse Prevention Month

Lincoln– April is National Child Abuse Prevention Month and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), the Nebraska Child Abuse Prevention Fund Board (NCAPF), the Nebraska Children and Families Foundation (NCFF), and Bring Up Nebraska Partners encourage all Nebraskans to get in involved in their communities to highlight the need to prevent child abuse.

Influenza cases increasing throughout Nebraska

Lincoln – The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is reporting higher levels of flu and flu-related cases in Nebraska. The State is experiencing increased positive cases, school absenteeism, hospital visits, and hospitalizations. Early-age onset CRC diagnoses are rising by 2% annually, and by 2030 it is predicted that CRC will be the leading cause of death in people under age 50. CRC is the third most commonly diagnosed cancer in the U.S. and the second leading cause of cancer deaths in men and women combined.
