As of the time this release is being written, the weather for race day looks…AMAZING! We should begin the run in temperatures in the low 60s, and the high that day isn’t expected to exceed the low-tomid 70s. There is a chance of rain, though it won’t impact the trail. Rick and Kitty VanderWey spent the weekend in Waterloo, IA to celebrate granddaughter Paisley’s birthday with her dad, Brayden Hammer, his girlfriend and her family. Paisley came home with Rick and Kitty to spend the week.

I have a new birthday buddy! Congratulations to Garrett and Katie Shadbolt of Merriman on the birth of their daughter, Prairie Ann, born July 21. She is welcomed home by siblings, George, Mavis, and Lindin. Grandparents are Jeff and Debbie Compton of Kilgore and Quentin and Angela Shadbolt of Merriman. That family is having a banner year, as Garrett is currently sitting third in the PRCA World Standings for bareback. They are richly blessed.

Nebraskans who want to donate or receive harvested deer can participate in the Deer Exchange. This program is designed to accommodate the additional harvest of deer.
