Judge Kozisek ruled in favor of TK Angus CUP permit

District Judge Mark Kozisek ordered the County Board of Commissioners with directions to issue Conditional Use Permit, CUP-001/23, in his judgment of TK Angus vs. Cherry County Board of Commissioners, Saturday, July 5, 2025.

Starry nights and educational days with NSP 32

Step into the Darkness is the theme for the 32nd annual Nebraska Star Party which will be held July 20-25, at Merritt Reservoir’s Snake Arm, and Wednesday, July 23 at the Valentine High School. Of course, weather permitting, Friday, July 25 is the Public Star Party, from 9:00 p.m. until midnight.

Storyteller and musician Chris Sayre is coming to Valentine, as part of the Nebraska Star Party Thursday, July 24, 2025. Chris Sayre will present programs at 2:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. at the Niobrara National Scenic River Visitor Center, 214 West Highway 20.

We’re getting the band back together and WE NEED YOU! Mrs. Springer and Mrs. Rhoades would like to invite seventh through 12th grade band students, community members, along with band and flag corps alumni to join them in playing in the Cherry County Fair Parade on August 7.

Goodwill truck will be here July 18-25 for your donations

Don’t have anything for the Garage Sale...then you may want to share your items with the Goodwill truck which will be parked at the former Skopko parking lot, and sponsored by the Valentine Chamber of Commerce. The truck will be there from July 18 - 25. All items must be placed inside the truck. Items they’re accepting include: clothing, shoes, boots, jewelry, accessories, housewares, collectibles, home and holiday decor, books, sporting goods, furniture, small appliances, electronics and computers, stereos, lamps, musical instruments, framed art, tools, purses, CDs, DVDs, bluerays, games, toys dishes, linens, bedding.

Niobrara Council discusses interim study

The Niobrara Council met June 19, 2025 at the Cherry County South Building Meeting Room, with the meeting called to order at 1:10 p.m., with the following in attendance: Jason Appelt, Karl Connell, Wade Hollenbeck, Mike Murphy, Nina Nelson, Don Painter, Matt Sprenger, Tony Tiefenthaler, and Scott Wessel.
