National Consumer Protection Week

LINCOLN – Scammers are getting smarter, but so are Nebraskans. This National Consumer Protection Week, Attorney General Mike Hilgers is empowering consumers with the tools they need to recognize fraud, avoid scams, and protect their hard-earned money. Throughout the week, the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office will share quick, practical fraud prevention tips on X (formerly Twitter) via @ProtectNE—because learning to outsmart scammers can take five minutes or less!

Nebraska musician launches music career

Valentine, NE, native and VHS Class of 2013 graduate, Kolton Brown, released his first music EP (Extended Play), Find A Girl, on February 10, 2025. He started his music career at the age of four, singing karaoke whenever and wherever he could. He was involved in music throughout his schooling. His high school music teacher, Mrs. Tammy Russell, was a great inspiration and supporter of his talents and helped shape his love of music.

Pheasants Forever hosts basic Turkey Hunting Workshops

Pheasants Forever has partnered with Tooth and Whisker Outdoors, and the Nebraska Game and ParksCommissiontoprovideFREE Basic Turkey Hunting Workshops ahead of season openers. These workshops are FREE of charge and open to anyone interested in learning more about hunting North America's largest game bird. Whether you have hunted before, and want to learn some new techniques or have never hunted turkeys but want to try, come on out for some fun hands-on learning. There are two workshops, each workshop will have a different focus. The first is Thursday, March 6, 2025 6:00 - 8:00 p.m., will focus on turkey identification, habitats, habits, and hunting regulations. It is important to know about the species you plan to hunt before you go into the field.

Social Security dissolves duplicative office

The Social Security Administration announced the closing of a component within the agency, the Office of Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity. Employees in this office will be put on administrative leave effective today.
