Summer Meals begin May 27

Valentine Community Schools will once again be providing free lunches to children during the summer at the Valentine High School parking lot. There are no income requirements or registration. Any child under age 18 may come and get a free lunch.

A good crew came together Thursday at the Lakeview Church grounds to help with clean up. Mowing, trimming, and making repairs was done, and much appreciated! Duane and Janet Cady enjoyed a visit on Friday from their granddaughter, Britni Maiser, and her daughter Sawyer from Alliance.

Patrols to focus on reducing alcohol related accidents

Through August, Nebraska Game and Parks Commission conservation officers will conduct special enforcement patrols focusing on state recreation areas and other Commission-managed properties throughout the state.

During the week of May 18 - 24, no arrests were reported by the Valentine Police Department. Officers responded to 41 calls for service, including: • 18 traffic stops • 3 reported suspicious persons or vehicles • 2 animal complaints • 1 non-injury vehicle accident • 1 theft.

In celebration of National Travel and Tourism Week, Visit Nebraska recognized seven employees from across the state with the Outstanding Frontline Employee Award. This award honors individuals who go above and beyond while interacting with travelers and locals.
