Andrew Monroe Fay, 66

Andrew Monroe Fay, 66, passed away on July 25, 2025, in Valentine, NE. Andy is survived by his father, Wilber; siblings Michael, Daniel, Matthew (Holly), Joseph, Mark (Tanya), Christina Fay-Carmody (Joe), and Jeffery; daughters Elizabeth Fixsen (Josh) and Amy Perez (Tommy); grandchildren Ethan, Xavier, Sophia and Pressa. He was preceded in death by his mother, Loraine and son, Bryan.

Andy graduated from Valentine High School in 1975. He was a brilliant mechanic who also worked as a truck driver and was a self-proclaimed junk collector. He worked tirelessly on anything he could get his hands dirty with. For Andy, one man’s junk was his treasure – and he had a lot of treasure. It wasn’t just about collecting things; he loved to tinker around with items and found purpose in them as well. He was unbelievably resourceful with an incredibly inventive mind. He used both talents to create a heat stove for his shop, allowing him to continue working on the things he loved during the cold Midwestern winters.

If he ever said, “It’ll only take a couple of minutes” while stopping to pick something up, you knew better. He loved to talk, shoot the breeze and connect with people in his own way. He loved the Old West. His favorite movies were those featuring John Wayne, and his preferred author was Louis L’Amour.

Andy was always willing to offer a helping hand. It didn’t matter if you were family, a friend, or a stranger. He was a loving smart-aleck, quick with a joke or a one-liner to make you laugh. He gave great hugs and had a way of making people feel better, no matter the situation. He was one of a kind. Loving, caring, funny and always thinking of others. He will be missed more than he could ever know. Or maybe, just maybe, he does know.

Rest easy, Andy. You were loved deeply, and your legacy will live on in all of us.
