Linda (Murray) Quick, age 72 of Crookston, NE, passed away peacefully at her home January 9, 2025. Linda was born in Ainsworth April 19, 1952, to Joe and Arlene (Brown) Murray.
At age three she moved to Crookston with her parents where she lived most of her 72 years. They lived in the house she later bought in 1979.
She attended Crookston School through eighth grade and then attended Valentine High School.
When Linda was six her mother passed away. She was raised by numerous aunts, including Edna and Hazel, along with her Grandma Anna (Sedlacek) and Grandpa George Brown.
In 1975, she married Ron Hughes and to this union three children were born: Ronald Jr., Lena, and Ryan. Linda and Ron later divorced. Linda was the best mom and did everything she could to provide for her children, always putting them first. She was so very proud of her kids and supported them in whatever they did; she was a second mom to many of her children’s friends.
Linda and Richard Quick married in 1995. Linda gained two more sons with Richard’s boys Rocky, and Derek. Richard later adopted Ryan.
Linda worked for 30 years from 1967 to 1997 at the Home Café for Jerry and Arlene Parks. In later years, she worked at IGA from 1999-2022. She enjoyed being on the Crookston town board from 1984 to 2022. For over 20 years she enjoyed helping her husband,Richard, run their business Green Acres Auto Sales. Linda was a very hard worker. She always greeted everyone with a smile.
Linda enjoyed playing music and some of the instruments she enjoyed the most were the piano, organ and her accordion. She was in the Hallmark Hall of Fame Movie Ole Pioneers with Jessica Lang that was filmed in Long Pine.
Linda enjoyed doing yard work and mowed the Crookston Cemetery for years. She truly enjoyed placing the crosses, flags, and poppies out for the veterans at the cemetery. For many years she had a big garden. She had a green thumb, and she joked about being called the Hollyhock Lady. She enjoyed collecting coins and spoons and was an avid garage sale shopper. She enjoyed traveling with her husband Richard. Linda took many vacations with her daughter Lena and they were able fly to Washington, D.C., and visit Arlington National Cemetery which was on her bucket list.
Preceding her in death were her parents Arlene Brown Murray and Joseph Murray; numerous aunts and uncles; and her special cousin Earl Brown.
She is survived by her husband Richard of Crookston; children, Ronnie Hughes, Lena Hughes, Ryan Quick and wife Jasi, all of North Platte, NE, Rocky Quick and wife Nikole and Derek Quick and wife Andrea, all of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Serena, Victoria, Rylynn, Jaxon, Zaedyn, Kynzleigh and Meagleigh, Angie, Avalon, Rylan, Weston, Camden, Avalon, Damian and Ashton; two great grandchildren: Noah and Kingston; her siblings Tom Murray of Crookston, Joe Murray, Jr., and Cinda Murray, both of Valentine; and nephews Steve, Kevin and Rodney Murray and their families.
Linda wanted to thank all her family, friends, and coworkers that have touched her heart. Her work is done.
Visitation will be held at Holmes Funeral Home in Valentine Saturday, January 18, 2025 from 2:00 - 5:00 p.m., with a celebration service at 5:00 p.m.
Graveside service and inurnment will be on her birthday, 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 19, 2025 at the Crookston Cemetery.
