Lorraine Jeannette Haugen was born at the Haugen family farm in Minnesota on January 4, 1937. Lorraine was the second of three children born to Joseph and Guida Haugen. She went to grade school and Sacred Heart High School in MN and graduated in 1955. While in school, she was active in chorus, band, and student council, and loved cheerleading.
She married Harold Reinhardt in 1956, and their family consisted of three daughters: Kay, Kim and Kristi. Their family moved to Valentine, NE in 1962 where Lorraine worked at Valentine Implement, Pinky’s Pizza, Trade Winds Motel for seven years, TG&Y for seven years and Alco for 29 years until its closing.
Lorraine married Robert (Bob) Stevens in May 1986. To this union, Lorraine gained four additional children: Tom (Valerie), Dennis, Robert (Sherry), and Jeffery (Linda). Bob and Lorraine spent 30 years together before his passing in 2017.
Lorraine loved music and dancing. Her favorite music was old time gospel and dancing to polka and waltz. Lorraine loved going to garage sales with her good friend Dorothy Poland. They remained close friends for many years.
Lorraine was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church, and her faith remained strong throughout her life.
Lorraine moved into Cherry Hills Assisted Living in 2023. She enjoyed the staff and activities there and was almost always seen eating the ice cream. Her special friend, Rodney Hockenbary, would come daily to spend time with her. They spent hours watching western shows together.
Most of all, Lorraine loved her family. She always looked forward to Saturday mornings with her daughters and any family get-togethers. “Family is everything,” Lorraine would say. Lorraine passed away at CHI Hospital in Grand Island, NE on June 23, 2025. Lorraine’s family was with her and by her side in her final days. Although she will be dearly missed, we take comfort in knowing she is no longer in pain.
Lorraine was preceded in death by her parents, sister and brother, one infant son, one daughter, and her husband.
Lorraine is survived by her daughters Kay (Dick) Sokol, Kristi (Randy) Lurz; son-in-law Neil (Cindy) Wescott; grandchildren Amy (Marcell), Kelli (Rick), Kevin (Tony), Karen (Dean), Billie (Ross), Jeri (Ryan) and Casey (Heather); 11 great grandchildren, two greatgreat grandchildren; step-children and numerous family and friends.
