Results of the Cork Thornton Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament

The banquet room at the Peppermill was full of families enjoying the conclusion of the annual Cork Thornton Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament, Saturday, January 27, 2024. There were a total of 71 teams trying for first place honors. From generation to generation, fishing locations, techniques, and no doubt, tackle and supplies, have been passed down - along with stories of this annual event. Photos by Laura Vroman

This year the weather was outstanding as were ice conditions with a high of 48 degrees, layers were shed while waiting for the fish to bite.

The first place team at the annual Cork Thornton Memorial Ice Fishing Tournament was from L to R: Jim Hesse and Zach Nadolski who caught 35.12 pounds of fish.
