The Nebraska Sandhills wins 2025 Nebraska Book Award

Lincoln, NE, September 2 - The Nebraska Sandhills, a richly illustrated collection of essays celebrating the history, geography, ecology and culture of Nebraska’s Sandhills, has been named the winner of the 2025 Nebraska Book Award in the category of Nonfiction: Nebraska as Place.

Train to be a Master Naturalist in October

People interested in becoming a Nebraska Master Naturalist may sign up for the Fall Core 24 training at the Crane Trust Nature and Visitor Center in Wood River. The workshop on October 17-18 and 24-25 allows participants to learn about Nebraska’s natural resources and achieve Master Naturalist in-Training status.

Nebraska updated move over law and increased fines

The Nebraska Department of Transportation reminded drivers that the state’s updated move-over law took effect September 3, 2025. Previously the move-over law applied only to emergency and roadside assistance vehicles.

Troopers make 80 DUI arrests in end-of-summer campaign

September 4, 2025 - Lincoln, NE - Nebraska State Troopers removed 80 impaired drivers from the road during the last few weeks of the summer travel season. The arrests came during a nationwide campaign focused on impaired driving, called Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.
