Lakeview School is back in session with 52 students this year. There are 14 students in grades K-2, which Jennifer Schubauer is teaching. Dakota Walkling has 17 students in third through fifth grade; and Donna Larvie, who teaches sixth through eighth graders, has 21 students. Damion Valandra is the cook and Mina Dillion is custodian, as well as Rosebud bus driver. Joslin Heinert is a para for fifth through eighth grades, and Amanda Davis is the x-ed para and classroom para. Lori Leese is driving bus again this year, the St. Francis route. Debbie Markus works with exceptional ed. Principal of Lakeview School is Kaylamae Emery. It’s going to be a great year!

The Nebraska Domestic Abuse Death Review Team (DADRT), in partnership with the Nebraska Attorney General’s Office, issued its 2026 Annual Report. In 2022, the Legislature passed the Domestic Abuse Death Review Act to examine domestic abuse deaths.

OMAHA, NE – The U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) is joining Facing Fentanyl, to unite families, communities and organizations across the country in recognizing National Fentanyl Prevention and Awareness Day. This year marks the fifth anniversary of the national observance which honors and remembers the lives lost to fentanyl poisoning.

The Nebraska Department of Veterans Affairs (NDVA) is hosting its fifth annual Nebraska Women Veterans Symposium at the Holiday Inn in Kearney on September 19-20. The two-day event is free for attendees, with space for up to 200 women veterans to attend and participate in networking, listening sessions, presentations, special activities, and more. It is open to women veterans, active duty, Reserves, and National Guard members.

The City of Valentine is advising motorists of a temporary closure of Hall Street in connection with construction of the City's interceptor sewer project. South Hall Street is closed through the construction area between Highway 20 and South Street.
