Chili Cook-off and Chocolate Lover’s Dream to be held February 14

This Friday, February 14, 2025 is still a few days away, and time yet for you to plan your chili or chocolate dessert for the annual Chamber of Commerce Valentine’s Day Ball Drop for the kids. The Chili Cook-off and Chocolate Lover’s Dream competition will be held inside the 4-H Building. Executive Director Jenny Moore said to have all entries ready to go at 5:30 p.m. There are prizes for the best chili and chocolate dessert. This is a competition that has been resurrected from days gone by and loved by all.

Niobrara Council discusses development issues on the Niobrara Corridor

The Niobrara Council met January 16, 2025 at the Middle Niobrara NRD building. The meeting was called to order at 1:01 p.m., with the following in attendance: Jason Appelt, Lana Arrowsmith, Karl Connell, Dallas Dodson, Les Hall, Wade Hollenbeck, Rich Mercure, Mike Murphy, Nina Nelson, Andrew Steinhauser, Matt Sprenger, Tony Tiefenthaler, Scott Wessel.

Laura Vroman is a Sand Painter Artist of the Month

Laura Vroman is honored to have been selected as the Sand Painter Art Club’s Artist of the Month for February. She has selected five art pieces that are on display at Viaero, Security First Bank, Union Bank and Trust, Mid Plains Community College and Sandhills State Bank.

The heart of the Bull Bash beats on Main Street in Valentine, Saturday, February 15, where you can witness the power and genetics of the bulls in their pens.

It’s your chance at 4-H Luck of the Draw

Cherry County 4-H has close to 250 4-H members and 50 volunteers! February is 4-H Month and to celebrate, Cherry County 4-H is hosting their annual Luck of the Draw fund raiser on Saturday, February 15 starting at 10:00 a.m. The Luck of the Draw will be held in The Extension Office on 2nd and Main Street. All funds raised by the 4-H youth, leaders, and volunteers will be used for the Cherry County 4-H program. These funds support 4-H activities, programming, workshops, supplies, equipment, clinicians, trophies, ribbons, awards, scholarships, club and project grants, etc.
