Fog theory?

It’s not often that the Sandhills sees foggy days, foggy mornings, possibly, but not most of the day... or the next, or even the next. Yet, there have been four consecutive days of fogginess from Friday, February 2, through Monday, February 5, 2024. Kelo-land TV had an interesting theory on the advent of fog in the area and said to mark your calendars for 90 days to see what type of precipitation would be rolling in - just in time for April Fool’s day.

AG Hilgers announced settlements aimed at preventing hidden hotel fees

Lincoln — Attorney General Mike Hilgers announced that his office has reached a settlement with Hilton Hotels regarding the disclosure of hidden mandatory fees. The settlement is the latest in a series of Nebraska settlements with major hotel chains, including Marriott, Omni, and Choice, which have all agreed to alter their business practices.

Lincoln – More than 21,000 lung cancer deaths a year are from exposure to radon gas, according to the Centers for Disease Control. Nebraska is third in the nation with the potential for high radon levels behind Iowa and Pennsylvania.

February 5, 2024 – Keep fire safety in mind this Valentine’s Day to safely maintain the spark of a romantic evening. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), that means keeping a close eye on what’s cooking on the stove or in the oven and practicing caution when using candles.

Hedda Matheson wins the Valentine’s Day Card winner

The Chamber of Commerce holds their annual Valentine’s Day Card Contest at the end of 2023. Everyone was invited to draw, sketch, or pen and ink the annual greeting that will be shared with many over Valentine’s Day, February 14. This year, Hedda Matheson was the winner with the above pen and ink letting you know your heart has a friend. She also was the recipient of the $250 prize.
