VFD responds to fire at Crossroads Assembly of God Church

The Valentine Fire Department responded to a call Monday, May 13, 2024 at Crossroads Assembly of God Church at 8:40 p.m. There were 26 firefighters on scene. The cause of the fire was due to burning weeds in a flowerbed. After 1.5 hours, they headed back to the fire hall. There was minor damage to the structure.

VFD releases 2024 roster

At the annual meeting in May, the following people were elected to office for the Valentine Volunteer Fire Department: Chief Terry Engles, Assistant tains Ross Brockley, Danny Boes, and Tadd Buechle, Training Officer Chad Gale.

Valentine Police Department arrests three - one with a gun

Valentine Police Chief Dana Miller confirmed that on May 8, 2024, at 9:30 a.m., a 911 call was received stating that “a man with a gun,' had pointed the gun at them and their house.” In response to this call the Valentine Police Department and the Cherry County Sheriff's Office responded to a residence in the 200 block of south Helen Street.

Poppy Poster winners

Each year, the Leo Brinda Unit #90 American Legion Auxiliary hosts a poppy poster contest for local students in grades 2-12. First through third places in each age group are selected by local Veterans and the public had a chance to vote in the 'People's Choice Awards' on April 27, as part of 1884 Days festivities.
