Law enforcement partnership in Nebraska takes stance against meth

KEARNEY, Neb. – In response to the increasing amount of methamphetamine seen threatening Nebraskans, federal, state and local law enforcement agencies in Nebraska have formed a coalition to help combat the number one drug threat in both rural and urban communities across the state.

Nebraska Beef Council seeks director candidates

Kearney, NE (January 25, 2022) The Nebraska Beef Council is seeking candidates in four districts to serve on the Board of Directors in 2023. Directors volunteer their time to represent fellow beef producers while overseeing Beef Checkoff collections and investments on the state, national, and international level. The Board’s major responsibility is to oversee checkoff expenditures by determining promotion, research and education programs for checkoff investments. The term is four years and will begin January 2, 2023.

Home Rehabilitation Funds available

The Central Nebraska Housing Developers are announcing the availability of funds to rehabilitate owner-occupied homes, located within the municipal boundaries of communities in our 14-county region. Low- to no-interest loans are available to income-eligible households for rehabilitation activities, including, but not limited to: weatherization, roof and foundation repairs, plumbing, electrical, painting/siding, and accessibility.

Quilts of Valor program

The Leo Brinda Unit #90 American Legion Auxiliary recently hosted a quilt raffle to help raise funds for the Cherry County Quilts of Valor program. Quilts of Valor are hand-made patriotic quilts that are awarded to veterans to show gratitude for their many sacrifices.

2022 Bull Bash People’s Choice Quilt Show

The 2022 Bull Bash People’s Choice Quilt Show will be held February 12, at Nelsen Furniture on Valentine’s Main Street. Organizers are calling for community quilts.

Nebraska newspapers launch statewide public notice website

The Nebraska Press Association (NPA) has launched a new public website to provide greater public access and notification to the workings of all government entities and courts in Nebraska. The website – www.nepublicnotices. com – is a cooperative effort of all Nebraska newspapers and is managed through NPA.

Radon Awareness Week

Lincoln – The Center for Disease Control (CDC) wants to let people know about the risks of radon poisoning by designating January 24- 28 as Radon Awareness Week. Earlier this week, Governor Ricketts named this month as Radon Action Month in the State of Nebraska.
