Washington (AP)-Inflation has reached its lowest point in 2 1/2 years. The unemployment rate has stayed below 4% for the longest stretch since the 1960s. And the U.S. economy has repeatedly defied predictions of a coming recession. Yet according to a raft of polls and surveys, most Americans hold a glum view of the economy.

NDA is now accepting applications for Resilient Food Systems Grants

Lincoln – Eligible applicants can now apply for grants from the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) program designed to help strengthen the state's food supply chain. The Nebraska Department of Agriculture (NDA) will work in partnership with the USDA to award $2.5 million for equipment and infrastructure projects to Nebraska food and farm businesses and other eligible entities including nonprofits, local government entities, tribal governments, schools, and hospitals. The deadline to apply for RFSI grants is January 31, 2024.

Social media advertising is an effective way for small businesses to get the word out about their products. Unfortunately, the same goes for scams. BBB Scam Tracker has received more than 50 online purchase scam reports from consumers across Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska and South Dakota since November 1, many of which were perpetrated on social media. The 2022 BBB Online Scams Report found that online purchase scams were the most common cons reported to Scam Tracker and the category with the most victims.

NDEE offers free nitrate sample kits for private drinking water wells

LINCOLN — The Nebraska Department of Environment and Energy (NDEE) is offering free nitrate sample kits and lab analyses to private drinking water well owners across the state. These kits are only available for a limited time through January 31, 2024.
