Cody held an Easter Egg hunt at Cody Park, Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 11:00 a.m., with many in attendance. Among the 1,500 eggs were three GOLDEN ones that were for bikes donated by Security First Bank.

The Valentine Book Club, in conjunction with Nebraska Humanities, and the Valentine Library are pleased to bring you speakers Charlotte and Kevin Endorf who will share Grace Snyder’s story. She was a pioneer woman who lived in a sod house when her family homesteaded in 1885 to Custer County.

The Nebraska Attorney General’s Office is issuing a Consumer Alert regarding an increase in Family Emergency Scams in Nebraska. The Family Emergency, or Grandparents Scam, involves scammers reaching out to Nebraskans by phone and text with emotionally gripping stories and an urgent need for money.

Nebraska ranks second in Financial Literacy

With April being National Financial Literacy Month and WalletLiteracy Scores varying by 29 percent across the states, the personal- finance website WalletHub released its report on the Most & Least Financially Literate States in 2024, which analyzes financialeducation programs and consumer habits in each of the 50 states and the District of Columbia.

EPA Approves plan to mitigate Snake River damage in northern Nebraska

LENEXA, KS, MARCH 27, 2024 – The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved a work plan submitted to the Agency by Richard Minor of Gordon, and Cherry County, to mitigate damage to the Snake River resulting from an unauthorized drainage ditch excavated from Minor’s property to the river in 2020.
