2023-2024 Believers & Achievers includes VHS Finley Mosner

A Partner of the Nebraska School Activities Association The Nebraska School Activities Association (NSAA) and Currency are proud to sponsor Believers & Achievers, a state-wide awards program that recognizes Nebraska’s future leaders. Believers & Achievers was designed to reward high school students in Nebraska for their excellence in academics and participation in NSAA activities. Those students who show a commitment to citizenship, school involvement and community projects will be honored in the Believers & Achievers program.

Know the importance of Vitamin D

As the days get shorter during the winter months, vitamin D becomes more important to supplement in our diets. Vitamin D is primarily produced by exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet rays. However, African-Americans have more melanin in their skin, resulting in the reduction of the body’s ability to make the vitamin from sun exposure.

Canning meat, poultry, and game

The flavor and texture of the final meat, poultry or game product depends on how the meat is handled following slaughter. If you slaughter your own meat, consult the National Center for Home Food Preservation website: https://nchfp.uga.edu Use only meat from healthy, disease-free animals. The meat should be chilled without delay to 40 degrees Fahrenheit, or lower, to prevent spoilage. To hold longer than a few days, freeze at zero degrees Fahrenheit, or lower, until canning time.
