SAF welcomes Executive Director Moore

The Board of Directors of the Sandhills Area Foundation are pleased to announce the addition of Carolyn Moore as executive director. She joins the foundation with an MBA from the University of Nebraska at Kearney, and more than 30 years of experience working in both non-profit and for-profit businesses.

Shining a green light on the service of local veterans

In 1954, President Eisenhower signed a bill proclaiming November 11 as Veterans Day, calling on the nation to “solemnly remember the sacrifices of all those who fought so valiantly, on the seas, in the air, and on foreign shores, to preserve our heritage of freedom, and let us reconsecrate ourselves to the task of promoting and enduring peace so that their efforts shall not have been in vain.”

Healing Garden at CCH gets new trees

Cherry County Hospital and Clinic received eight trees for their Healing Garden area and campus beautification project. Wednesday, October 4, 2023 a group of volunteers gathered to assist in the planting of the trees and included: Clint Assarsson, Tyler Eggert, Carol Favero, Madeline Schmidt, Robin Shaw, Debbie Compton, and Melissa Williams who gave their time to the project.

Let the leaves fall

Last Sunday I was visiting over a meal after worship and the topic of fall activities came up. I mentioned that one of the really awesome things we enjoy about Valentine are the abundance of very mature trees whose majesty is visible throughout the year but none so exciting as during the last breaths of fall when the leaves turn a painter’s pallet of colors to remind us of the beauty of God’s creation.

Bipartisan Coalition of Attorneys General file lawsuits against Meta for harming youth mental health

Lincoln -- Attorney General Mike Hilgers joined 41 other state attorneys general in suing Meta in federal and state courts around the country. The complaints allege that the company knowingly designed and deployed harmful features on Instagram and its other social media platforms that purposefully addict children and teens. At the same time, Meta falsely assured the public that these features are safe and suitable for young users.
