Preventing and managing powdery mildew in the garden

Don’t panic when you find a powdery white substance covering the leaves of some of your flowers, vegetables, and shrubs. This is a good clue that your plants are infected with the fungal disease, powdery mildew. Most otherwise healthy plants can tolerate the damage and perennials will return the following year.

Nominations sought for Coolest Thing Made in Nebraska

Lincoln-Manufacturers and all Nebraskans are invited to nominate their favorite product to compete in the second annual Coolest Thing Made in Nebraska tournament. To qualify, products must be manufactured in Nebraska.

Troopers stop 118 speeders for 100+ mph in July

Lincoln-Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol stopped 118 people for driving at 100 mph or more during the month of July. The effort coincided with the nationwide law enforcement campaign focused on the dangers of speeding.

Gov. Pillen deploying soldiers to Texas border in support of Operation Lone Star

Lincoln – Governor Jim Pillen announced the deployment of more than 60 Nebraska Army National Guard soldiers to the Texas border in support of Operation Lone Star. The group departed Wednesday, August 2, and will return home in early September. The soldiers are tasked with providing additional observation and reporting near the border, which will assist agencies that are conducting security and law enforcement efforts.

Incidents/Arrests On 07/24/2023 at 1:05 a.m., an officer arrested a 22 year old Valentine man in the 200 block of South Main Street for an active Cherry County warrant. On 07/25/2023 at 12:14 p.m., a forgery and theft was reported in the 700 block of East Highway 20.
