Lincoln-Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol removed from the road 27 impaired drivers during the busy Thanksgiving travel weekend. Thanksgiving weekend coincided with the annual Buckle Up, Every Trip, Every Time national campaign.

Lincoln, November 29, 2023 — A successful calving season begins months before calving season, with cow herd management. Nebraska Extension is hosting Cow Clinics during December and January to review some of the basic management factors that can lead to a successful calving and breeding season.

Rebekkah Cash is no stranger when it comes to working with senior citizens. In the past, she worked at Pine View as a CNA before it closed. In her current position, she is working with senior citizens in a much different capacity at the Valentine Senior Center. She has replaced Ellen Froning, who was the director for 20+ years. “She knows everything about this business, inside and out,” Cash said. “She was just so good at it. She has everything memorized and she did her best and wrote tons of notes for me.”

There is no force more powerful than a woman determined to rise! Valentine Police Officer Jasmine Hoefs has returned to duty following an on-duty accident that occurred in December 2022. The accident resulted in critical injuries requiring a lengthy recovery period.

The Old West Days and Nebraska Cowboy Poetry Gathering committee is happy to announce that plans are being made to hold this popular annual event on the weekend of April 26-28 in Valentine. More information will be available as scheduling and plans develop..

Cherry County has announced that the District Court has ruled in Cherry County’s favor in the Ed Brown and AMORAK v Cherry County case. Brown, a Santa Barbara, CA resident and his corporation AMORAK previously sued Cherry County alleging that a Conditional Use Permit for the Valentine Feeders facility south of Crookston was improperly issued.

The time is now for the public to submit nominations for the 2024 Nebraska Sandhills Cowboy Hall of Fame. Nominations are due by December 31, 2023.

For 44 years, the Nebraska Hospital Association (NHA) has celebrated over 2,500 of Nebraska’s most caring and devoted health care employees by presenting them with The Caring Kind Award. NHA member hospitals, such as Cherry County Hospital, select recipients from within their organization to be acknowledged at The Caring Kind Awards Luncheon during the NHA Annual Convention.

Jean Burge Spending the Thanksgiving weekend with Lavern and Pauline Lanz were Lydia and Anton Brintley, Lincoln and Bryce of Minnesota. Don and Jeannie Schelhaas went to Starbuck, MN to spend six days and Thanksgiving with her daughter, Jessica and Brett Bowser, Briar, Elise and Bridger.
