Fischer announces $405 million in Broadband Funding for Nebraska

LINCOLN – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Commerce Committee, announced that Nebraska will receive $405,281,070 in broadband funding through the BEAD program within the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA). The funding for this program was made possible by the 2021 bipartisan infrastructure law, which Senator Fischer supported.

Recapping the 84th annual SCA Convention and Banquet

For 83 years, the Sandhills Cattle Association has been holding its annual Membership Meeting, but over the years, we've added a trade show, cattle contests, educational speakers, and entertainment. Due to changing times and other reasons, we decided to make things a little different this year! On June 15, at the Cherry County Fairgrounds in Valentine, we held our 84th annual Convention and Banquet! We started the evening with a cocktail hour by Corner Pub and viewed all of the silent auction items. Then the Executive Board held the Annual Membership meeting.

That’s right, this July 13, one day only, Ruthie Kaup, Lilybet Rolfe and Ellison LaDeaux, along with their parents help, will be sponsoring a Carnival to help raise funds for new swings at Ecology Park. It’s a project they’ve been working on for over two Years.

Local teens join Beyond School Bells Youth Leadership Council to expand learning opportunities for Nebraska after school programs

included Valentine Elementary After School Program Council members gained a deeper understanding of the role of educators within their communities. In addition, they learned how to build relationships with students through engaging activities, practiced creating business plans and setting goals for ELO programming, and networked with other high school staff and after school professionals throughout the state of Nebraska who have similar interests and career goals.

Missoula’s 50th anniversary presents the Little Mermaid

It was one of the pun-iest productions put on by Missoula Children’s Theatre; the production company from Missoula, MT, who is celebrating their 50th year! The staff of Natalie Taylor and Ceci Garcia selected youth to appear in this year’s production of The Little Mermaid - but it’s not your typical story... Deep in the salty waters of the Sassafras Sea, there lived a Little Mermaid.
