The Valentine Public Library will be hosting Coffee with a Cop, Wednesday, April 26, 2023, from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. The Valentine Police Department will be on hand to share answers to any questions or concerns you may have. Chief Dana Miller encourages everyone to stop by and check out a book and visit with the police.

SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loans available to Nebraska small businesses

SACRAMENTO, CA – Small nonfarm businesses in 78 Nebraska counties and neighboring counties in Colorado, Iowa, Kansas, South Dakota and Wyoming are now eligible to apply for low interest federal disaster loans from the U.S. Small Business Administration, announced Director Tanya N. Garfield of SBA’s Disaster Field Operations Center-West. These loans offset economic losses because of reduced revenues caused by drought in the following primary counties that began April 1, 2023.

Fischer statement on WOTUS injunction

LINCOLN, NE – U.S. Senator Deb Fischer (R-Neb.), a member of the Senate Agriculture Committee, released the following statement after the U.S. District Court for the District of North Dakota issued a preliminary injunction halting President Biden’s Waters of the United States (WOTUS) rule: “There’s no question that Biden’s WOTUS rule represents a reckless intrusion into Nebraskans’ communities and livelihoods. Today’s legal victory is an important step in the right direction to stop D.C. bureaucrats from regulating our state’s resources.”

EQIP funding available for farmers and ranchers impacted by natural disasters

Through the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP) funding is available to help producers plan and implement conservation practices on farms and ranches impacted by natural disasters. EQIP funding is available to assist in this wildfire recovery effort by planting cover crops on impacted cropland and to defer grazing on rangeland.

Celebration of Life Service

A celebration of life will be held for Ed Vinton on Saturday, April 22 at the American Legion in Gordon from 11:30 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Lunch will be provided. As Ed was an avid Husker Football fan, we will have the spring game on for everyone to watch during the celebration. At 2:00 p.m., there will be an opportunity to share memories of Ed with all of his family and friends.
