He is the greatest Gift

President Russell M. Nelson, President Dallin H. Oaks and President Henry B. Eyring released the following Easter message: Jesus Christ, the Only Begotten Son of our loving Father, is “the resurrection, and the life.” His birth, life, and death brought the promise that “he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live,” John 11:25. During this Easter season, we invite all to ponder this glorious promise. Because He broke the bands of death, we each have the assurance of immortality and the hope of life eternal.

Scorning shame

Many people live their lives with shame. They may look perfect on the outside, but that perfection is a cover of shame on the inside. Or, they may look horrible on the outside, as that shame drives them to do obviously shameful things. The shame could be from things they did, or things done to them, but shame, or fear of shame (which is itself shame), can remove us from relationships, and make us hide from God.

Fear not!

They had more than enough reason to be afraid early that Sunday morning. It was clear, from what they knew, the one they loved was dead, buried in a grave, with a large stone covering the entrance. It was clear, from what they could tell, the enemies had won. It was clear, from what they could see, that there was a really good chance those enemies would be rounding up Jesus’ followers soon. It was unclear, from what they could not see into the future, what would be happening to them. From what they knew, what they could see, what they were experiencing, yeah, there was more than enough reason to be afraid.

We forget so easily

It is sad to say, but we often forget so easily. This Bible story illustrates my point very well. Jesus had repeatedly told His followers that He was going to die, and then rise from the dead. In fact, on three separate occasions He stated, “… the Son of Man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. He spoke this openly.” Mark 8:31-32.

Jesus and the impossible

movie that is playing in movie theatres across the country. The person writing the article debated whether a move of God could take place today like it did in the 1970s when many young people embraced Jesus during those volatile times.

Celebrating LIFE and self-giving LOVE

At the beginning of our 40 day Lenten journey, we were marked with ashes in the Sign of the Cross – a stark reminder that we are going to die, all of us, sooner or later. Now, at the Easter celebrations, those ashes are washed away when we are “soaked” with the same Easter water with which The Elect are baptized! Death no longer has a claim on us. We know that God has the last word – and God’s word for us is the same as His word for Jesus, who was crucified, died and laid in the tomb. LIVE! And so we do; WE LIVE – IN HIM!

Union Pacific 2nd railroad to drop push for one-person crews

OMAHA,(AP) - Union Pacific has become the second major freight railroad in the past week to back away from the industry's longstanding push to cut train crews down to one person as lawmakers and regulators increasingly focus on rail safety following last month's fiery derailment in Ohio.

Hindered by pain in your heel?

If you have pain on the bottom of your foot at the heel, especially when you take your first steps of the day, you likely have plantar fasciitis. One of the most common causes of foot pain, plantar fasciitis pain can subside with time, but sometimes the pain keeps people from doing what they love, whether that be running, walking, or other pleasures of life. I once saw a young woman suffering from plantar fasciitis who got some relief from an injection. A few years later she returned wanting another injection so she could dance pain-free at her own wedding.
